a storage facility in Quebec; five people were sentenced to prison
Tale
When maple syrup farmer Ruth Landry finds her livelihood under attack from greedy competitors who were once her friends, she devises a scheme to exact revenge and shake up the industry. A collection of strange characters in dire situations trying to manage a maple syrup theft to save their financial woes. Ruth, whose husband is in a coma, has lost her right to sell maple syrup to the cartel run by Leonard.
He is the sole guardian of the entire maple syrup supply
It turns out that her husband owns the rights to harvest the syrup, so she has been fined for illegally using his rights. Remy, a sort of hapless hero, is the guard at the warehouse where all the syrup is stored, and he sneaks out of the warehouse at night with a friend who is suddenly murdered. With Ruth in financial trouble, the only way forward was to steal on a much larger scale, and she and Remy brought Mike into the scheme.
The truth is something else entirely
Mike seems like a force that could do big things. And with all the personality clashes and confusion, it almost becomes a cop-out in Keystone. Every time it seems like they have things under control, there are setbacks, and their approach to trying to resolve them is a big part of the humor.
And a very interesting cameo
The backlash is what leads to season two, so there are plenty of loose ends. And as was very clear, that’s not how the actual theft was committed. So it’s a funny fictional account.
